Sunny Cottage Heritage Centre where guides dressed in period costumes
introduce you to the lives of the people who once inhabited this 1907 Queen
Anne Style Home. Also discover Harbour Breton's unique and rich history as
the Old Capital of Fortune Bay. Learn about the presence of Newman and
Company, the Fishery and Resettlement and how these events helped shape who
we are today.

After your tour relax a spell in the kitchen and enjoy a cup of tea and a
traditional Newfoundland snack with our friendly staff.

Fishing Stages - A Common Site Take a leisurely
stroll around the harbour and discover the numerous fishing stages that dot
the shoreline. These structures continue to represent an active inshore fishery
that is supporting the livelihoods of many residents of Harbour Breton.
The construction of these fishing stages is a practice that has been around
since fishing began in this community.
Harbour Breton Bay Fjord
For
the more adventurous taking a short hike to the summit of Gun Hill will
expose you to an breathtaking panoramic view of the entire area. A word of
caution that there are a couple of steep sections to be navigated so proceed
to the top at your own risk.

Mile Pond Boardwalk
A
sunset stroll around Mile Pond offers a quiet
way to wind down after a day of exploration. The 2 KM boardwalk
around Mile Pond provides a leisurely walk that all can enjoy.

Deadman’s Cove Beach and
Coastal Trail
Relax on the sandy shores of Deadmans' Cove where you
can have a picnic or hike along the coastal trail that offers
fantastic views of the coastline. From here you can view Brunette and Sagona Islands as well as Miquelon on a fine day. This trail will take you to the Mile
Pond Boardwalk for a combined hike of 3.8 KM. The trail is suitable for
all ages, however, there are areas where long staircases have to be
climbed.

day of exploring.


War Memorial
Located next to
the Lion's Community Centre and
playground. In remembrance of those who fought and died for their country.

Hickey Landslide
Memorial
Located on
Southside Drive near the actual location of the 1973 Landslide that claimed
the lives of four children (Pauline, Edward, Timothy and Julia Hickey).
Rocky Point
Lighthouse
Built in 1873 this is one of the oldest lighthouses
still functioning on the south coast. From here you can view the
resettled community of Jersey Harbour and the granite cliff of Jersey
Head. The lighthouse provides a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
