At 5:00 AM a motorcade of some fifty vehicles left Harbour Breton for
the Trans Canada Highway to protest the closure of the local fish plant
and to bring the seriousness of the issue back to the provincial
forefront.
Nearly 300 plant workers and supporters braved the cold temperatures and took part in
Protest, slowing traffic for nearly 2 hours. The
purpose of the protest was to ensure that the challenges being faced by
the community are front and centre in the minds of our politicians and
that their efforts need to now focus on assisting the community find a
solution.
