was declared a a day of mourning commemorating the hardships that all are enduring at
this time of uncertainty.
More than 1000 residents took part in
a march through the community from King Academy School to the Fish Plant
to protest FPI's plans to discontinue
their processing operation in Harbour Breton.
Many businesses and organizations
throughout the community were closed between 9 AM and 2 PM in support of the
Local Union's and Town's efforts with respect to addressing this crisis.

Youth placing items into the casket symbolizing the impact that the FPI
Plant has on the educational and recreational services within the
community. Items placed in the casket included skates, hockey stick,
graduation cap, and volley ball.
