The
Economic Development Committee is made up of representatives from
various committees and other community stakeholders. The role of the EDC
is to coordinate the implementation of the Town's Strategic Development
Plan. This plan was developed with funding from ACOA, Industry Trade and
Rural Development and HRDC. In addition assistance in developing the
plan was provided by the
Canadian Executive
Service Ogranization (CESO) and its Volunteer Advisors.
Members of the EDC include, John Vallis-Chair, Mayor Don Stewart, Ray
Noseworthy, Ches Foote, Father Ed Brophy, Bill Carter,
Loretta Ridgley, Marie Bungay, Heather Warren, John Day, Wade Tibbo,
John George, Mildred Skinner and Boyce
Stewart.
Once completed the Town hired an Executive Director to work closely
with the EDC to coordinate the implementation of the plan. Currently,
initiatives being pursued include,

Established committee to pursue Broadband
Connectivity to the Connaigre Peninsula (Completed).

Establish a community theatre group (on-going).

Initiate a Junior Achievement program in the area
(on-going).
